Israeli musician Avraham Tal brings ‘home’ to London’s Israeli community

The Israeli community in London joined together to connect and rock at a special concert by leading Israeli musician Avraham Tal. Yisraelim’s partner Shelanu hosted the artist for the show which he generously donated to the Israeli community in London.

Tal’s career, launched as part of the Shotei Hanevuah band, spans decades. During the performance, Avraham Tal sang well-known hits from all eras, evoking nostalgia and longing for Israel among the audience.

More than 400 Israelis attended, including the Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Tzipi Hotovely. Despite the large crowd, there was an overwhelming feeling of belonging and connection throughout the evening sponsored by Shelanu, a member of the Jewish Futures family of organizations.

Before the concert, Tal and his band joined the community for a festive Friday night dinner, hosted by Ari and Aliza Rotenberg – directors of Shelanu. During the evening, community members shared stories about how Shelanu has directly impacted their lives Jewishly and in keeping their connection with Israel, while they heard from Tal and other band members how COVID-19 had impacted the band and Israeli society. They expressed how excited and proud they were that this trip to London was their first post-COVID concert.

In addition to Tal generously donating his time, the Shelanu community came together and volunteered to make the concert happen including musical production, logistics, audience management, and photography.
